I was asked to review the Hale series by Marie James through the Leave Me Alone I'm Reading book blog.
Book 1- Coming to Hale
As I was reading this book, I was expecting a typical billionaire meets commoner and falls in love, blah, blah blah. However, I was pleasantly surprised to read that the billionaire in question, Ian Hale, doesn't flaunt his wealth. So many times as readers of this sub-genre we are led down a path of incessant expensive gifts, lavish lifestyle, etc. I'm glad that while reading this book I wasn't thrust into the realm of totally impossible love matches. For that, I applaud Marie!
Speaking of thrusting (good segue, right!), the sex scenes are steamy and well written, I was a bit worried about this turning into a weird sex story, but rest assured the sex scenes are tasteful and HOT!
Book 2 - Begging for Hale
I was waiting for this story when I read the first book in the series. Garrett and Alexa are the perfect pair to get together, and to watch them push and pull at each other was awesome. They both met their match. You can never hide emotions once they become apparent, even it it takes a near tragedy to figure it out.
The sex in this book is pretty damn hot! Very descriptive and steamy - well written!
Book 3 - Hot as Hale
This was by far the best book of the series! I love Kaleb and Josie together and this book met all my expectations. I loved how tender Kaleb was with Josie as she slowly came out of her shell. I really enjoyed the suspense that this story offered. But I was left slightly disappointed that there wasn't a conclusion between the dad and Kaleb. I felt that there should have been a conversation between them to clear the air, but it didn't detract from the story itself.
The sex was hot and sensual - very well written!
Book 4 - To Hale and Back
This is the final book in the series, and I have to say it was well written and the chapter by chapter POV from all of the characters was neat!
I wasn't sure where the author was going with her plans, but I have to say it was worth the wait and the final suspense section of the book didn't disappoint.
I love reading series and I love when there is a full conclusion, I only wish that they could continue on forever.
A great series I would recommend to anyone!
